This program started in the city of Salvador · Bahia, providing education and culture to young people from the community of northeast Amaralina, Vale das Pedrinhas and surroundings, an area with high crime rates and a strong absence from the state. Through Capoeira Angola and complementary actions of the project Cidadania João e Maria, young people from the community were able to access the wealth present in the civilizing values of an Afro-Brazilian matrix.
Over time, the project has achieved impressive results, in improving this disadvantaged community, contributing to the reduction of crime and the social integration of the young participants. Due to the result and efficiency, the program was extended to other regions of Salvador, Brazil and other countries.
In Brazil in the city of Salvador | Bahia, the program continues to work in the Vale das Pedrinhas community, where the official headquarters of the international CEDANZE is located · AJPP-CECA Rua Raimundo Viana, 61 Rio Vermelho.
The project does not have public and private financial support!
What is Capoeira Angola?
Capoeira Angola is a form of Afro-Brazilian cultural expression, where participants stay in a circle. It is conducted by an orchestra composed of musical instruments. In the center of the circle two capoeiristas are going to hang around “running the Capoeira game”.
It is possibly the only art of Attack and Defense that is accompanied by chants and an orchestra of percussive music!
How does the course work?
It is divided into two parts:
1. Class of percussive instruments: Berimbau, tambourine, reco-reco, agogô, atabaque and chants
2. Physical activity with attack and defense movements of Capoeira Angola and body balance
Sport and culture reinforce family values, direct children and adults to the paths:
From science, ecology, good food and away from bad habits, drugs imposed by a market society!
The Association offers a Capoeira Angola course for children on Mondays at 7:30 pm at the official headquarters of CEDANZE – João Pequeno de Pastinha Academy – Capoeira Angola Sports Center at Rua Raimundo Viana 61 in the Complexo do Nordeste de Amaralina in Salvador – Bahia.
